The production team behind Your Love, Korea’s first lesbian reality dating show, has issued an official statement and announced a temporary two-episode broadcast suspension amid ongoing controversy surrounding cast member Kim Ri-won. Episodes 3 and 4, originally scheduled to air on Friday, May 2, will be postponed as the team reviews its editing and production direction.
Following the program’s premiere on April 25, Your Love quickly became a topic of heated public discourse—not only for breaking ground as an LGBTQ+ romance reality show, but due to allegations about cast member Kim Ri-won’s past and conduct. These included claims that she had previously appeared in online adult content and allegedly made inappropriate proposals to fellow contestant Han-joon. The controversy intensified when online speculation tied Kim to Choi Si-hoon, Ailee’s husband, suggesting he might have been involved in her casting process—claims both Kim and Choi have denied.
The show’s production company, Display Company, addressed these rumors via a formal announcement posted to the show’s official social media channels. Here’s a breakdown of their key points:
1. Denial of Intentional Casting Based on Past Activities
The team strongly denied allegations that they knowingly cast Kim Ri-won despite her past involvement as a “naked BJ” (a term referring to sexually explicit online broadcasters in Korea). They stated:
“The claim that we cast her with knowledge of her past is untrue. At the time of casting, we investigated internally based on community rumors and confirmed the content in question was not related to the performer. She also denied all allegations during the interview process.”
The production team only became aware of new materials acknowledging Kim’s involvement after the initial screenings.
2. Response to Inappropriate Behavior Allegations
Concerning the alleged inappropriate travel offer made by Kim Ri-won to another contestant:
“After the allegations surfaced on social media, we conducted a multilateral face-to-face interview in early April. The individual in question firmly denied the claims. No conclusive evidence has been presented, so we will not expand public speculation. However, should clear evidence emerge, we will respond firmly.”
3. Editing Direction and Episode Delay
“We will maintain the natural flow of events and emotional arcs from filming, but we are open to viewers’ feedback and criticism,” the team stated. “Future episodes will be carefully edited with balance and care, without distorting narratives or emotions.”
To allow time for internal review, the production team will postpone episodes 3 and 4, originally scheduled for release on Friday, May 2.
