MEOVV, the rising K-pop girl group under THEBLACKLABEL, has unveiled their latest single, “HANDS UP,” on April 28, 2025. This track serves as a vibrant pre-release for their upcoming debut EP, MY EYES OPEN VVIDE, set to drop on May 12.
“HANDS UP” marks a stylistic shift for MEOVV, embracing Brazilian funk influences to create an upbeat and playful anthem. The song’s energetic rhythm and catchy hooks showcase the group’s versatility and willingness to explore new musical territories. The accompanying music video features the members engaging in a spirited game of Go with schoolchildren, symbolizing a lighthearted rebellion and a departure from their previous intense themes.
Critics have noted the track’s infectious chorus and dynamic production. The Bias List highlighted the Brazilian funk beat as a driving force behind the song’s momentum, while kpopreviewed appreciated the memorable hooks, though found the verses less impactful. On Reddit, fans expressed mixed feelings, with some praising the chorus’s strength and others desiring more vocal distinction among members.
MEOVV comprises five members: Ella, Gawon (Chloe), Sooin, Narin (Lyn), and Anna. Their diverse backgrounds—from Los Angeles to Tokyo—contribute to their unique appeal in the K-pop scene. Mentored by BLACKPINK’s Rosé and produced by Teddy Park, MEOVV is carving out their identity with a blend of global influences and personal flair.
