Benjamin Sesko Arsenal Transfer Hit by £66M Release Clause Surge
Arsenal’s pursuit of Benjamin Sesko may now come at a premium. The highly sought-after striker’s release clause at RB Leipzig has jumped from £49.5 million to over £66 million (€80 million)—potentially complicating Arsenal’s summer transfer plans.
According to Sky Germany, the Benjamin Sesko Arsenal transfer saga has taken a twist after a performance-based clause was triggered in his contract. Thanks to a standout season—scoring 13 goals in the Bundesliga and providing several assists—the 21-year-old Slovenian’s valuation has climbed, just in time for Europe’s elite clubs to enter the fray.
Arsenal Face Heavy Premier League Competition
While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly sees Sesko as a prime forward target, the North London club now faces fierce competition. Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all monitoring Sesko’s situation closely, with scouts in attendance during recent RB Leipzig matches.
Sesko is also being considered alongside other striker options like Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP. However, the sharp increase in Sesko’s clause could shift Arsenal’s strategy—forcing them to either meet the new price or move on.
Sesko Responds: “Anything Can Happen”
Despite the speculation, Sesko remains composed. Speaking to Sky Germany, he stated: “Right now, I’m 100 per cent focused on RB Leipzig. Then we’ll see what happens. It’s open—anything can happen.” The forward’s noncommittal tone leaves the door wide open for a potential move, even if he’s currently focused on finishing strong with Leipzig. Adding fuel to the fire, Jurgen Klopp—now serving in an advisory role for the Red Bull football group—had high praise for Sesko: “He has space for improvement, space for development, incredible skillset, incredible potential. I’m happy that we have him.”
Klopp also recalled first noticing Sesko during his Red Bull Salzburg days: “I thought, ‘Where do they get all these players?’ Ridiculous.” Although Klopp has no direct influence over Leipzig’s decisions, his endorsement only validates why Premier League clubs are circling.
A Summer Bidding War?
RB Leipzig are unlikely to block a transfer if the new release clause is met. With his youth, physicality, and scoring instincts, Sesko is shaping up to be one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe.
For Arsenal, the dilemma is clear: Is Benjamin Sesko worth breaking the bank for, or will they lose him to a rival? Given their history of narrowly missing out on top targets, the pressure is mounting.
One thing is certain—the Benjamin Sesko Arsenal transfer story is just heating up, and fans across the Premier League will be watching every twist this summer.
