Spring of Youth Ep 2: Sa Gye and Bom Grow Closer Amid Chaos

Spring of Youth Episode 2 begins with Sa Gye realizing that the house he wants to rent a room in belongs to Kim Bom. Though hesitant at first — she doesn’t want to rent to a male tenant — Bom is persuaded by her aunt, who sees the potential benefit of having a celebrity under their roof.

Sa Gye moves in after agreeing to a few ground rules. He notices a childhood photo of Bom and recognizes the piano in the picture — the same one she plays at the restaurant. When Bom trips and he catches her, he seizes the opportunity to ask about the melody he’s been hearing. She finally tells him it’s a piece she composed on the piano her mother gave her when she was seven.

That night, Sa Gye dreams of a young Bom playing that exact tune. The next day, Bom is working in a shop when her manager informs her that merchandise featuring Sa Gye is being pulled by his label. When Sa Gye arrives, she scolds him for staying silent about the truth — the assault video was faked. At school, Sa Gye continues recruiting members for his band. He notices the two students from the video pretending to be injured and confronts them. They refuse to reveal who’s behind it and flee, later calling Kang Seok-hee — Jo Sang-heon’s right-hand man. Sang-heon instructs Seok-hee to break the connection between Sa Gye and Kim Bom.

Seok-hee passes this task on to the same boys, who start a protest at the university demanding Sa Gye’s expulsion. The chancellor tells Sa Gye he can stay only if he gets 300 students to join his music club. Sa Gye also notices that the chancellor is in contact with Jo Sang-heon. Meanwhile, Bom witnesses the protest and decides to visit Jo & Jo Entertainment. She meets with Sang-heon, who is surprised to learn that his company had purchased music from her. She tells him the video of Sa Gye was doctored, but he dismisses her claim, saying Sa Gye is on his own.

Elsewhere, Tae-yang struggles with a dissection in medical school. His father — director of Hanju University Hospital — pressures him to quit the band and focus on becoming a doctor.

Back at school, Sa Gye discovers his new band recruitment booth vandalized by the same gang. As they taunt him, Bom shows up in a bear costume and sings the song she wrote — the same one Sa Gye had been hearing. She signs up for the band and encourages others to join, helping him collect 229 signatures.

The group of boys complain to Tae-yang, who agrees to take action. He spots Bom watching Sa Gye perform and notices the smile on her face. As the count reaches 299, the troublemakers return for another confrontation. But this time, Tae-yang surprises everyone by adding his own name to the sign-up sheet, bringing the total to 300. He reveals he overheard the boys talking about being paid to frame Sa Gye and no longer wants to be associated with them. The chancellor has no choice but to let Sa Gye stay.

The new band comes together: Sa Gye, Bom, Gyu-ri, Tae-yang, and their old friend Jin-gu. They go out for a celebratory meal, which ends with a chaotic but friendly cake fight. Later, Sa Gye receives a call from Yoon Seung-su at Jo & Jo Entertainment, who informs him of Bom’s confrontation with Jo Sang-heon. As they leave the restaurant, Sa Gye sees someone taking pictures of them, but the man flees before he can be identified.

The group heads to the library to study, though Sa Gye is preoccupied with thoughts of the conspiracy against him. Meanwhile, Tae-yang returns home to find his father furious. After learning Tae-yang missed an important surgery because of the band, he breaks his guitar and tells him to move out if he wants to pursue music. Tae-yang accepts and heads straight to Bom’s house, where he pressures Sa Gye into sharing the room with him.

That night, Jo Sang-heon has a vivid dream. He recalls the rainy night from six years ago when he fell asleep behind the wheel and caused a car accident. The dream jolts him awake at precisely 5:45 a.m.

The next morning, the group inspects a potential band room, which is cluttered and messy. Everyone leaves except Bom and Sa Gye, who stay behind to clean. When a curtain accidentally drapes over them, the moment turns unexpectedly intimate. Sa Gye receives a call from Jo Ji-na, who compliments a song she bought — one that Bom had written. Bom leaves for her multiple part-time jobs, telling Sa Gye she won’t make it to practice but will rehearse on her own.

At work, Bom is disheartened to discover that the restaurant’s piano has been sold and she’s also being let go. But when she returns home, she finds the same piano waiting on the rooftop. Sa Gye explains that he bought it as an investment in her talent and urges her to return to practice. The two play music together, but the moment is disrupted when Sa Gye spots someone photographing them again — this time, he recognizes the man as Kang Seok-hee.

Sa Gye arranges to meet Jo Sang-heon and proposes a drinking game. If he wins, Sang-heon has to answer his questions. After several rounds, Sa Gye says nothing — he simply bows and walks away.

On the cab ride home, Sa Gye begins to experience fragmented flashes of memory. Bom finds him wandering, clearly drunk, and supports him as they walk. Suddenly, he embraces her and calls her “My Bom Bom” — a name only her mother used to say to her. That moment closes out Spring of Youth Episode 2.
