MIYEON Kicks Off Ramen Challenge with Laughter and Surprises in “MIYEON’s taste.zip”
The video begins on a light-hearted note as MIYEON accidentally starts filming before realizing the camera is rolling. Sharing a laugh with the crew, she playfully greets viewers under her playful alias “MIYEON.zipsa.” She introduces the day’s theme: MIYEON’s Ramen Shop, inspired by the popular format of “Shu’s Ramen Shop.” With a cheerful scripted intro, she humorously reveals that she’ll be turning 30 next year—something she jokes feels odd to admit while dressed like a ramen shop character.
This episode marks the second installment of her food content series, MIYEON’s taste.zip, where she dives into collecting and experimenting with various ramen recipes. Though she proudly claims the title of a noodle lover—her alternate Instagram handle is “noodle.zip”—she candidly admits she usually relies on cup noodles and doesn’t have any signature recipes. But today, she’s diving into four trending ramen styles: Yoon Nam No Ramen, Chef Choi Hyun Seok’s Jjapagetti, the Spicy Chicken Ramen from “You Quiz on the Block,” and her own ramen—though she shyly admits it’s actually a recipe from her PD, not her own invention.
First up is Yoon Nam No Ramen. MIYEON expresses her admiration for the chef and recalls visiting his restaurant with fellow I-DLE member Jiwon. She humorously shares that Chef Yoon, who had a quiet demeanor, seemed overwhelmed by their lively energy and avoided their table. As she attempts the dish, she accidentally burns the chili powder and has to restart. The recipe involves heating oil in a pre-warmed pot, sautéing chili flakes, ramen seasoning, soy sauce, and napa cabbage before adding water and noodles. Despite some struggles—especially with scissors due to being left-handed—MIYEON manages to pull it off.
She’s pleasantly surprised by the final taste, describing the broth as light, clear, and gently spicy, somewhat like a mild jjampong. She praises the napa cabbage for boosting the umami and rates the ramen four stars, noting it’s a big step up from instant varieties like Jin Ramen, clearly reflecting a chef’s touch.
Next, MIYEON tackles Chef Choi Hyun Seok’s Jjapagetti—a recipe she admits she’s a bit intimidated by due to the need for pan-frying. She stir-fries olive oil, onions, shrimp, and squid, then adds Dashida broth, sugar, and the packet’s seasoning. Initially forgetting to boil the noodles separately, she quickly adjusts and finishes the dish with a final drizzle of olive oil. MIYEON confesses she’s more of a convenience food person and rarely cooks full meals, but the flavor of this dish stuns her.
She enthusiastically describes it as the perfect version of Jjapagetti she always imagined, finally understanding the purpose of adding ingredients like Dashida broth, which she previously dismissed. Though she stresses this is her personal taste, she encourages viewers to try it themselves because of how flavorful and rich it is. She even invites the filming director—who once worked with Chef Choi—to try it for a second opinion.
