Kakao Shod Drama Series Launches on Rebranded Loop Platform
Kakao is stepping into the spotlight with its newly launched Shod short drama series, now streaming on its rebranded content platform, Loop. Previously known as Daum Loop, the platform underwent a major revamp last month, signaling Kakao’s intent to offer more diverse and original digital content experiences.
What is the Shod Series?
The Kakao Shod drama series introduces a new form of storytelling—compact, binge-worthy content crafted for modern viewers. Each Shod series spans between 30 to 60 episodes, with each episode running just 1 to 2 minutes long. All episodes are released simultaneously to support full-season binge-watching, and new series will premiere every Wednesday. The best part? It’s completely free, and fans can set alerts through the Daum app to stay updated.
First Entry: Can Ghosts Be Laundered?
Leading the charge is Can Ghosts Be Laundered?, the first official Shod series. Adapted from a popular webtoon, this romantic fantasy tells the tale of a ghost who runs a laundromat and another spirit searching for peace in the afterlife. With 62 short episodes, the series blends charm, humor, and emotion in a unique narrative that’s easy to binge in one sitting.
Loop’s Future: More Genres, Better UX
Kakao isn’t stopping there. The company has big plans for Loop’s future, including new short-form dramas in a variety of genres like comedy, thriller, and romance. Upcoming titles include Heartbreaker Law Firm and Our Lee Ji-hye, giving users a taste of the diverse storytelling on the horizon.
To elevate the viewing experience, Kakao is also refining its recommendation engine and interface, making it easier for users to discover and enjoy content tailored to their interests.
Strategic Collaborations to Fuel Growth
To further strengthen Loop’s offerings, Kakao is teaming up with short-form content creators and production houses. These collaborations aim to enrich the platform with more high-quality originals while fostering a dynamic ecosystem for digital storytelling.
A Kakao media representative shared that the goal is to deliver “trustworthy and entertaining content,” ensuring Loop becomes a go-to destination for short drama lovers.
A New Era of Short-Form Drama
With the launch of the Kakao Shod drama series, Loop is poised to redefine how audiences consume digital narratives. Whether you’re on a lunch break or a late-night scroll, these bite-sized dramas offer emotional depth and compelling plots in just a few minutes per episode.
As Loop continues to grow and evolve, viewers can expect a steady stream of engaging content that reshapes Korea’s short-form drama scene—one two-minute episode at a time.
