The Haunted Palace Episode 11 delivers one of the series’ most emotional and intense installments yet, as secrets unravel, loyalties shift, and one of the show’s core characters makes the ultimate sacrifice. With the ghost growing bolder and the King’s inner circle tightening their focus, the lines between justice and vengeance blur — culminating in a devastating final act for the Imugi brothers.
The Haunted Palace Episode 11 — Bibi’s Fate is Sealed
The episode opens with the ghost and Pung-san vanishing from view, setting off a chain of consequences. Gangcheori quickly swoops in to save Yeo-ri and presents damning evidence to initiate an official investigation. It’s overseen by none other than Minister Kim Bong-in, a move that tightens the net around the palace’s shadowy figures. Meanwhile, the King steels himself for a direct confrontation with the ghost that has haunted his reign.
To cope with the growing stress, Gangcheori helps Bibi track down their next corrupt noble target, Lord Hong. But Yeo-ri steps in before the deed is done, confronting them about their continued vigilante killings. She lashes out, claiming the Imugis are simply murdering people without any care for human life. Despite Gangcheori’s defense about Bibi’s karmic intentions, she declares the killings dishonorable — something Yoon Gap, in her eyes, would never approve of.
Tensions Between the Imugi Brothers and Yeo-ri Explode
Haunted by guilt, Gangcheori begins exploring alternatives. He confides in Ga-seop, wondering if the ghost can be exorcised without giving up his Imugi pearl. Bibi overhears and is furious, accusing Gangcheori of changing—of being willing to throw his life away for Yeo-ri.
Elsewhere, the web of conspiracy continues to unravel. Minister Kim “discovers” letters implicating the Queen Mother as Pung-san’s backer. Though she plays dumb, she soon learns that Pung-san was responsible for both the late King’s and Yeong-in’s deaths. That realization breaks her resolve — and the current King begins to see her as a pawn rather than a player. The true mastermind, angered by Pung-san’s carelessness, tries to eliminate him. But the ghost intervenes, asserting he needs Pung-san alive to help him install a new monarch. Kim reluctantly agrees and offers him sanctuary in the family’s ancestral shrine.
The Ghost’s True Target and a Jealous King
In the palace library, the group analyses the ghost’s pattern — and realize he’s been targeting only one royal bloodline: that of King Yeon-jong, the current monarch’s great-great-grandfather. This leads them to a surviving descendant, Choi Won-u, whom the King decides to question personally.
A side moment reveals a jealous side of Gangcheori. He bristles when Yeo-ri and the King speak fondly of Yoon Gap, whom Gangcheori accuses of manipulation. The King teases him, amused that Gangcheori might be… jealous.
A Kiss, a Gift, and a Goodbye
Yeo-ri later gives away her ghostbane stone to the Crown Prince, signaling a major shift. She tells Gangcheori that she no longer needs to protect herself — because she trusts him to do so. She’s ready to stop comparing him to Yoon Gap. Then, in a moment fans have waited for, she kisses him.
But their growing bond causes a rift with Bibi, who sees the couple from a distance. Hurt and spiraling, he begins aligning with Pung-san — who offers him a gift: a non-talismaned Lord Hong, and an ultimatum. Deliver Yeo-ri, and the nobles needed for ascension are his. If Yeo-ri dies, both Imugis are free to ascend.
The Trap and Bibi’s Final Stand
The trap is sprung the next night. Bibi and Pung-san capture Yeo-ri, while Se-won lures Gangcheori to the shrine. Bibi goes for the kill, hoping to destroy Yoon Gap’s body and release his brother. But just as the ghost prepares to strike Gangcheori, Bibi sacrifices himself. His pearl is consumed, and the ghost turns his back, letting them escape.
In the aftermath, Gangcheori desperately tries to save his brother — but an Imugi without a pearl cannot survive. Bibi, weakened and solemn, confesses that Kim Bong-in is the true mastermind. His only goal was to protect Gangcheori.
In a heartbreaking final moment, Bibi dies in his brother’s arms. This episode does more than move the plot — it transforms our understanding of the characters. Bibi, who was introduced as a chaotic, pearl-hungry spirit with a death quota, emerges as the most emotionally complex character of the series so far. His arc — from ruthless executioner to sacrificial protector — lands with force, especially when framed against Gangcheori’s internal conflict and Yeo-ri’s emotional clarity. The show plays with expectations and morality, making clear that even mythical beings carry their own burdens of love, loss, and redemption.
