The highly anticipated film “Big Deal” (literal title: War of Soju) has dropped its first official poster, teasing an intense corporate and emotional battle between two powerhouses—Yoo Hae Jin and Lee Je Hoon.
Set against the turbulent backdrop of the 1997 IMF financial crisis, “Big Deal” tells the gripping story of a nationally beloved soju brand, Gukbo Soju, teetering on the brink of collapse. The film explores the cultural, economic, and emotional significance of soju during one of South Korea’s most difficult eras.
Yoo Hae Jin stars as Pyo Jong Rok, a loyal CFO who views the company as family and fights to protect it from being taken over. Opposing him is Lee Je Hoon as Choi In Bum, a strategic and profit-driven employee of a global investment firm seeking to acquire the iconic brand.
The newly released poster captures the rising tension between the two men, with soju—more than just a drink—symbolizing the heart and soul of Korean resilience. As foreign capital floods into South Korea, “Big Deal” delves into the clash between traditional values and modern corporate greed.
With a dramatic plotline and powerful performances, the film raises the stakes by turning a bottle of soju into a battleground of pride, identity, and loyalty. “Big Deal” is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2025.
