Tastefully Yours Episode 8: Yeon-joo Learns the Truth About Beom-woo
Tastefully Yours Episode 8 begins with Young-hye and Yu-jin sneaking into Jungjae to steal Yeon-joo’s recipe book. Once they return to Motto, Young-hye starts preparing dishes not only with Yeon-joo’s unique recipes but also using her soy sauce—a clear violation of culinary trust.
Beom-woo rushes to the restaurant in an attempt to stop her but arrives too late. Young-hye calmly reminds him that he’s the one who taught her how to play dirty in the first place. Before walking away, she tosses the stolen recipe book on the table and tells him to stop pretending and return to Motto.
Back at Jungjae, Yeon-joo finds a note from Beom-woo saying he’s unwell and won’t come in. Meanwhile, Myung-sook continues to fume over Chun-seung’s unexplained absence from work. During a heated argument, Yeon-joo overhears that Young-hye has been spotted in town, sparking concern.
Later that night, Beom-woo quietly returns the stolen recipe book to its proper place at Jungjae. Yeon-joo catches him in the act and, rather than pressing him, offers porridge to help him recover. The next morning, Chun-seung and Myung-sook are still at odds, both skipping work again. Frustrated but empathetic, Yeon-joo suggests a team vacation to help everyone reset.
That day, a mysterious customer visits Jungjae, orders a one-set meal, but leaves without eating—paying in cash and leaving behind a red lighter. The lighter triggers a memory for Beom-woo: the same style of lighter had been found in the ruins of Jungjae after the fire. Realizing the man might be the arsonist, Beom-woo borrows a vendor’s truck to chase him down.
He finds the man at a warehouse and confronts him. The man admits he once stood outside Hansang for 93 days in protest after Beom-woo destroyed his business, and no one paid attention. So, in retaliation, he set Jungjae on fire. He coldly tells Beom-woo that Jungjae is just like all the other restaurants Beom-woo has ruined.
Shaken, Beom-woo goes to meet his mother, Chairman Han. She reveals she’s known about the arsonist all along. Rather than offer sympathy, she demands he close Jungjae and return to Motto—especially now that the Diamant inspectors have responded positively to the dishes. Beom-woo pleads for more time.
Despite everything, he still can’t bring himself to tell Yeon-joo the truth. When the Jungjae team heads out for their “vacation,” they’re surprised to find that Yeon-joo has brought them to a temple, not a luxury villa. There, she introduces them to the monk who helped raise her. In a heartfelt conversation under the stars, Yeon-joo tells Beom-woo about her late mother and how her love for cooking started. When she asks about his past, Beom-woo hesitates, saying it’s too painful to share.
Eventually, Beom-woo texts Sun-woo, saying he won’t return to Motto and no longer wants to be Hansang’s heir. Meanwhile, the long-awaited news breaks: Motto receives three Diamant stars.
After returning from the temple stay, Beom-woo finally tries to come clean. As he begins to confess, Yeon-joo stops him with a kiss, believing they’re starting a new chapter together. But their moment is shattered when Sun-woo storms into the restaurant.
Sun-woo lays everything bare. Beom-woo had once planned to shut down Jungjae and steal Yeon-joo’s recipes. Worse, the dish that won Motto its three stars was one of Yeon-joo’s creations. Beom-woo confesses, confirming everything. Devastated and betrayed, Yeon-joo tells him to leave, ending the episode with heartbreak and disillusionment. For more recaps, check out the link below.
