Good Boy Episode 5 Recap: Ju-yeong Escapes, Dong-ju Collapses
Good Boy Episode 5 opens with a nostalgic flashback to academy days, where Dong-ju finds himself captivated by Han-na’s beauty—only to get a football in the face for not paying attention. The scene parallels the present, as he once again lies on his back, staring up at Han-na.
At the police station, Ju-yeong is being interrogated about his role in a series of murders. Although the evidence is stacking up, he remains unfazed and tight-lipped. DNA from a hit-and-run vehicle is being processed, but Ju-yeong, always calculating, knows the system better than anyone. Dong-ju, meanwhile, prematurely celebrates their supposed victory, unaware of what’s coming.
Ju-yeong keeps glancing at his watch—and with good reason. High-powered prosecutor Seok-hyeon steps in, citing the Customs Act to remove Ju-yeong from police custody. As he leaves, Han-ma briefly confronts him about the Golden Bunny group and Gyeong-il, but Ju-yeong remains unreadable. However, the stress takes a toll on Dong-ju, who ends up coughing blood and collapsing outside the station, prompting an emergency trip to the hospital.
With Dong-ju out of commission, Seok-hyeon and his team raid the task force’s office, clearing out their investigation materials. The squad realizes just how elusive and dangerous Ju-yeong really is. Meanwhile, Jong-hyeon confides in Han-na that Ju-yeong has likely been tracking her movements. Han-na, undeterred, sees an opportunity to bait him into making a mistake.
At the prosecution’s office, Ju-yeong’s smuggling charges are dismissed as “minor” offenses. He walks away with just a pay cut and a department transfer. Furious, Man-sik urges the team to dig into Ju-yeong’s background. They find little—Ju-yeong keeps to himself, with the only notable connections being Kim Yu-na from customs and a tragic family history. Financially, he’s cautious and calculated, using his role at customs to skim luxury cars or destroy them when things get risky.

Han-na pays Ju-yeong a visit by the docks, handing over files that point to Cheong-il Shipping and a symbolic logo—an effort to rattle him and show that the investigation is inching closer. But this also puts a target on her back.
Desperate for leads, the team contacts Dae-yong, who introduces them to a synthetic drug named “Candy,” camouflaged in sweet wrappers. The drug is linked to a terrifying figure known as the Drug Demon—an unpredictable and dangerous woman whose empire is deeply connected to Ju-yeong and even stretches into Russia.
As the team mobilizes for a raid, the Drug Demon gets ahead of them, destroying evidence before they arrive. During the chaos, rival gang members attempt to kill her. Dong-ju intervenes, saving her from the attack and later from an explosion by jumping out of a window with her. Though she’s placed in protective custody, no one realizes she’s the same woman they just rescued.
Now under police care, the Drug Demon starts developing feelings for Dong-ju, seeing him as her rescuer and becoming jealous of Han-na.
The episode lightens briefly with playful tension between Dong-ju and Han-na in the bathroom before they attend a formal police event. As Pan-yeol delivers a speech under the scorching sun, Dong-ju tries to keep Han-na cool and comfortable.
But just as romantic sparks begin to fly and they share a kiss, Dong-ju collapses once again—leaving the fate of their relationship and his health hanging in the balance. For more K-Drama recap, check out the link below.
