Squid Game Season 3 Episode 4 Recap: Betrayals & Revelations
Squid Game Season 3 Episode 4 opens with Gi-hun confronting Player 96, who tries to convince him that killing players will end the game at the next vote. But Gi-hun refuses to help murder anyone. As Player 100 nears the finish line, he attempts to negotiate with 96, but behind him Player 203 kills someone retreating. Gi-hun finally forces 96 to move at knifepoint, triggering a rush as more players cross the line — Myung-gi and a dazed Min-su among them.
Meanwhile, Jun-hee struggles to practice jumping but freezes every time. Myung-gi offers to help, only for Jun-hee to unleash her rage about Hyun-ju’s death. She warns him to stay away from her child, leaving him no choice but to abandon her — he knows he can’t carry both her and his own ambitions through the game. In a final push at the bridge, 96 attacks but Gi-hun hurls him to his death. Players surge forward to finish, but when Gi-hun goes back for Jun-hee, there’s no time left. She pleads with him to care for her child and leaps to her own end.
Beyond the island, No-eul and Player 246 are assigned outer perimeter duty on a boat. When the Officer contacts No-eul, he threatens 246’s daughter, forcing No-eul to return to the island. She warns 246 about the threat and urges him to call the police once he hits the mainland. She sneaks back through a vent, but the Officer orders both her and 246 dead for this act of betrayal.
At the same time, the VIPs debate killing Jun-hee’s baby. The Frontman proposes a twisted alternative — let the baby play in her place, raising the player count from eight to nine. The surviving players are furious about their shrinking prize money and want the baby gone, but the guards stop them cold with a new rule: no more player-on-player violence.
Out on the sea, the mercenaries close in on the islands with Jun-ho’s oxygen tank clue. Captain Park discreetly marks out an area on the map and picks the opposite side to mislead them. Back on land, Woo-seok is arrested after a neighbor hears the gunshot and tips off the police. His ranting about the games earns him mockery, until the cops check Captain Park’s name and find an old gambling charge. Could Park have been a Squid Game winner ten years ago?

Another officer phones Park about the break-in, spooking Woo-seok into bolting from the station to warn Jun-ho. Meanwhile, Park tells the second boat’s captain they’re exposed and orders a massacre. Woo-seok calls Jun-ho just in time to reveal Park was a guard — before the cops drag him away. Park slaughters the mercenaries but Jun-ho fights back with a fishing rod, demanding answers. Park’s dying words hint that someone ordered him to protect Jun-ho at all costs — and that he enjoyed “playing” with him.
Back in the bunker, the remaining players sit down for the iconic final dinner. The VIPs worry the players might vote to end the game, but the Frontman unveils a brutal twist: before the vote, the players must agree to eliminate at least three among them — the rest will win. A tense voting session begins. Most players vote yes, including Myung-gi, which infuriates Gi-hun. Min-su, lost in withdrawal, votes no but it’s meaningless.
On the sea, only one mercenary survives. Disillusioned, he wants to flee but Jun-ho persuades him to keep fighting, sharing that he must rescue his brother. They decide to check the island Park crossed off the map.
In the bunker, the Blue Team secretly plans to kill Gi-hun, Min-su, and the baby. Myung-gi plays along, acting indifferent to the conspiracy. But before dawn, guards drag Gi-hun to a hidden chamber where the Frontman presents him with a knife — ordering him to kill the others first. Gi-hun refuses, suspecting a trap. Then the Frontman removes his mask.
In shock, Gi-hun lunges at In-ho, the Frontman, but freezes when In-ho calmly claims he can be replaced at any time. He apologizes for Jung-bae’s death but insists that if they work together, they can save the baby. If only two players remain, the final game collapses. He urges Gi-hun to decide: does he still have faith in people? Squid Game Season 3 Episode 4 ends with Gi-hun facing a devastating choice — trust In-ho or betray everything he stands for.
