Gyeongju Gears Up for 2025 APEC Summit
With the 2025 APEC Summit Gyeongju fast approaching, the city is bustling with energy and excitement. During the long Chuseok holiday, Gyeongju was filled with tourists enjoying cultural festivals and autumn attractions designed to celebrate the city’s role as the upcoming host for global leaders. Banners wishing for a successful summit were displayed across the city, and even the light rain couldn’t dampen the festive mood — instead, it added a charming autumn touch to the historic landscape.
Throughout the holidays, Gyeongju’s renowned historic sites, recognized as part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, were packed with visitors. The Silla Cultural Festival, one of the city’s most anticipated annual events, officially began on October 10. Blending traditional heritage with modern flair, the festival opened with the Water Opening Public Festival at Woljeong Bridge. The celebration also features diverse programs, including street art performances and hip-hop events, symbolizing unity among people from all over the world.

Officials from North Gyeongsang Province, Gyeongju City, and the APEC Task Force have been on-site throughout the holidays to oversee every detail. Continuous simulations covering security, logistics, and overall operations will continue until the summit begins, ensuring that Gyeongju is fully prepared to welcome the world.
