Jennie Launches Zen Serif Font to Celebrate Hangul Day
Blackpink’s Jennie marked Hangul Day — the national holiday celebrating the creation of the Korean alphabet by King Sejong — with the launch of a brand-new font. Her agency, OA Entertainment, announced on Thursday the debut of Zen Serif, a Korean typeface that seamlessly blends traditional aesthetics with modern design.
According to OA Entertainment, the Jennie Zen Serif font was created to help more people appreciate Hangul not just as a writing system but also as an art form that’s both practical and visually elegant in everyday use. In collaboration with Meta, Zen Serif has also become the first Korean font to be available on Instagram Reels, allowing global users to incorporate Hangul-inspired designs into their short-form videos. The font is available for free download through OA Entertainment’s official website.

Celebrations of Hangul Day extended beyond Korea. Samsung Electronics launched the Hangul Truck Project across six top U.S. universities — including Yale, Cornell, and Princeton — to promote the cultural beauty of Hangul. The project features renowned installation artist Kang Ik-jung’s “Hangul Cubes,” a traveling exhibition that transforms Korean characters into art. Visitors could even see their English messages translated into Hangul on a digital display using Galaxy AI, blending language, culture, and technology.
