New statements from HYBE’s top executives suggest that BTS might not return as a full group in 2025, despite all members completing their military service this year.
During HYBE Labels’ annual shareholder meeting on March 31 KST, CEO Lee Jae Sang addressed the highly anticipated question about BTS’s group promotions. “All of the members will be discharged from their military service duties this year,” he began. However, his tone turned cautious as he continued, “Upon their return, the members need plenty of time to prepare.”
Lee explained that while the company is currently in talks with top music producers and making necessary preparations, BTS’s return is not something to be rushed. “This matter also requires significant deliberation from the perspectives of the members. Typically, artists work on an album, release that album, and then embark on a tour. However, BTS are artists of top global status, and this status demands a careful evaluation of the group’s vision for what is ‘next’.”
HYBE’s CFO, Lee Kyung Joon, added, “We are still in the process of discussing the group’s promotion plans for 2026. Therefore, we do not have any projections laid out at this time,” responding to a question about future sales following BTS’s return.
Many fans and industry insiders interpreted these remarks as confirmation that there are no concrete plans for a 2025 group comeback, despite Jungkook, Jimin, V, and RM set to be discharged around June. The uncertainty has only intensified speculation about BTS’s exclusive contract renewals, which are reportedly set to expire in the next 1–2 years.
While HYBE remains careful in their wording, the delay has sparked both disappointment and understanding among fans, who continue to support each member’s solo endeavors while holding out hope for an eventual full group reunion.
