Illit Wins Excellent Work Award for ‘Almond Chocolate’
K-pop girl group Illit has earned another major milestone with the Illit Excellent Work Award recognition at the Japan Record Awards, announced by Belift Lab on Friday. The group secured the Excellent Work Award for their first Japanese-language single, “Almond Chocolate,” a significant achievement considering it is one of only ten songs selected each year and is now in the running for the grand prize to be revealed on Dec. 30. Notably, Illit’s track stands out as the only nomination from a non-Japanese group.
Although Illit has not officially debuted in Japan, their growing influence in the market was already evident when they won the rookie artist award last year, propelled by the massive popularity of their debut single “Magnetic.” Their sustained momentum demonstrates how strongly their music is resonating with listeners across borders.

In a statement released through their agency, Illit expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing that they are “sincerely delighted to receive significant awards for two years in a row.” The group emphasized their commitment to continuing to create music that connects deeply with a wide audience, reflecting their steady rise and artistic ambition.
Adding to the excitement, Illit is also preparing to release their first single album, “Not Cute Anymore,” this coming Monday, signaling the start of another highly anticipated chapter in their career.
