BELIFT LAB Files ₩100 Million Lawsuit Against NewJeans Fandom Group “Team Bunnies”
BELIFT LAB, the agency representing rookie girl group ILLIT, has officially taken legal action against a NewJeans (NJZ) fandom group known as “Team Bunnies,” escalating tensions surrounding plagiarism allegations that have circulated online in recent months. The lawsuit seeks ₩100 million KRW in damages, citing reputational harm and business losses caused by the group’s posts.
According to legal sources, BELIFT LAB filed the lawsuit on the 11th at the Seoul Western District Court. The suit targets the operator of Team Bunnies, identified as “A,” who is reportedly a minor, as well as their parents as legal guardians. The agency claims that the online activities of Team Bunnies went beyond fan criticism and crossed into defamatory territory.

BELIFT LAB alleges that Team Bunnies repeatedly posted content asserting that ILLIT plagiarized NewJeans, framing the claims as factual rather than opinion. The agency argues that these allegations damaged the public image of both ILLIT and BELIFT LAB, negatively impacting the group’s activities and the company’s business interests during a critical debut period.
The lawsuit reflects BELIFT LAB’s stance that unverified accusations spread through organized fandom platforms can cause serious harm, especially to newly debuted artists. By pursuing damages, the company appears to be signaling a stronger legal response to what it views as coordinated online defamation rather than isolated fan discourse.
