However, Kevin sparked controversy when he was photographed holding a message of support for a rival team, the Kia Tigers, instead of focusing on the Kiwoom Heroes.

In his apology, Kevin expressed regret for his thoughtless behavior, acknowledging that he had made people uncomfortable with his comments about singing the national anthem in Gwangju, the hometown of the Kia Tigers.
