Antony has opened up about his Real Betis loan, calling it the best decision of his career—while leaving the door wide open on his Manchester United future.
The 25-year-old winger, currently on loan from United, is enjoying a stunning revival in La Liga, tallying seven goals and four assists in just a few months with Real Betis—numbers that far surpass his underwhelming stint at Old Trafford, where he managed just 17 goal contributions over two-and-a-half seasons.
“The Best Decision I’ve Ever Made”
Speaking honestly about his journey, Antony reflected on the contrast between his struggles in Manchester and his resurgence in Spain:
“I always say that the best decision I’ve ever made was coming to Betis. I’m happy, and when I’m happy, things go well.”
The Brazilian also emphasized how his happiness has been the key factor in rediscovering his form, adding:
“For me, of course, it’s important to score goals and provide assists, but being happy is even more important.
I found myself here, I’m very happy here, and things are going very well.”
What’s Next After the Loan?
Antony’s loan spell with Real Betis ends this summer, with no option or obligation for a permanent transfer included in the deal. That means he will return to Manchester United, where new manager Ruben Amorim will make final decisions on loanees during the preseason.
Still, Antony isn’t rushing anything. When asked about what lies ahead, he said:
“The future? It’s very early; I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m very happy here.
I’ve found myself enjoying football. It’s crazy right now, although I know how talented I am, so I prioritised going where I knew I’d be happy—even though I had better offers.”
Transfer Rumors Begin to Swirl
Despite Antony’s uncertain stance, the rumor mill has already started spinning. According to a recent report from Brazil, two unnamed clubs have inquired about his availability for a potential summer move. The winger’s current form and emotional connection with Betis may increase his value—both on and off the pitch.
Betis’ Season Still Alive on Two Fronts
Real Betis are fighting for a Champions League spot, sitting just one point off fifth in La Liga with four games remaining. They’re also in the driver’s seat in their Europa Conference League semi-final against Fiorentina, hoping for a spot in the final later this month—possibly against Chelsea or Djurgården.
Should Antony help guide Betis to European silverware and a top-five league finish, the pressure on United—and the player himself—to decide his next move will only intensify.
