Can This Love Be Translated Episode 4 opens with individual preliminary interviews for Hiro and Mu-hee, where both actors learn who they will be paired with and traveling alongside during the show. Mu-hee reacts with pleasant surprise, while Hiro’s response is noticeably restrained, carrying an underlying tension. The production’s first overseas destination is revealed to be Canada, and soon after, the cast and crew arrive and settle into their hotel accommodations.

While adjusting to the new setting, Mu-hee finally connects the dots and realizes that Hiro was the person who caught her during her red carpet stumble earlier. Seeking clarity, she asks Yong-u about Ho-jin, but he advises her to redirect her attention toward Hiro instead.

Behind the scenes, Hiro makes it clear that he is not enthusiastic about acting opposite Mu-hee. Producer Kim steps in and persuades him to continue with the project, with subtle support from Ho-jin. However, Producer Kim then privately asks Ho-jin to keep Hiro’s reluctance confidential. In exchange, Ho-jin requests that the staff address Mu-hee by her real name instead of her character name, Do Ra-mi.

Back at the hotel, Ho-jin arrives at his shared room with Yong-u and bluntly asks whether Mu-hee has feelings for Hiro. Yong-u confirms that she does and later relays this conversation back to Mu-hee. Using Yong-u as an excuse, Mu-hee goes looking for Ho-jin, but he quickly sees through her reasoning.

The two take a walk together and catch up. Ho-jin mentions that his brother is getting married the following week. Meanwhile, Mu-hee continues to be tormented by Do Ra-mi, who appears and bombards her with harsh remarks and mocking comments. Ho-jin points out that these voices are manifestations of Mu-hee’s own inner thoughts. Still, Mu-hee admits she cannot explain them out loud, as doing so would feel like exposing her most private thoughts.

Mu-hee isn’t the only one affected by Do Ra-mi. Hiro jolts awake from a nightmare involving her as well. His assistant informs him that Mu-hee is preparing a surprise for their first official meeting and suggests that he should reciprocate. Hiro clarifies that his frustration has nothing to do with Mu-hee failing to recognize him. Instead, he worries that her zombie-themed image could undermine his carefully crafted romantic persona.

Later, Mu-hee asks Ho-jin what Hiro truly thinks of her, but he refuses to answer. He reiterates that his role as an interpreter is strictly to translate words, not emotions. Still, he gently urges her not to listen to Do Ra-mi, even if those thoughts echo her insecurities. Just as he is about to say more, Yong-u interrupts, forcing Mu-hee to leave.

The production prepares for Hiro and Mu-hee’s first official on-camera meeting. The two meet in a park, connected through earphones with Ho-jin translating between them. Hiro releases a series of balloons and instructs Mu-hee to follow them, slowly exhausting her. Secretly, Ho-jin helps her locate Hiro more quickly. When Hiro lightly mocks Mu-hee’s film, Ho-jin subtly softens the translation. Mu-hee presents Hiro with a heart made from maple leaves, to which he quietly mutters, “This is the worst.” Ho-jin hears every word.

Suddenly, dust gets into Hiro’s eye, causing his contact lens to fall out. Claiming he has no replacement, Hiro refuses to continue filming, bringing the shoot to an abrupt halt. Ho-jin confronts Hiro’s manager, Nanami, insisting the issue must be resolved swiftly and discreetly. Nanami reveals something that could potentially change Hiro’s mind.

Ho-jin gathers all the Korean snacks Yong-u brought and packs them into a bag, claiming he is heading downtown to meet a friend. Mu-hee, wanting to apologize to Hiro for the leaf heart incident, tags along. Ho-jin warns her not to meet Hiro without him. He then completes the exchange, trading the bag of snacks for a thin envelope.

While waiting, Mu-hee spots Hiro alone on the street, casually taking photos and looking perfectly fine. Do Ra-mi appears again, urging Mu-hee to throw a rock at him. Mu-hee resists the impulse, but Hiro notices her presence and walks away. Ho-jin arrives shortly after and finally tells Mu-hee the truth—that Hiro opposed her casting from the beginning.

Ho-jin later meets Hiro and hands over the thin envelope, which immediately shifts Hiro’s attitude. He agrees to resume filming. Ho-jin rushes to find Mu-hee, only to discover she has turned off her phone. On the drive back, he admits that he filtered some of Hiro’s words during the shoot. He also promises to translate everything Mu-hee says from now on, including curse words, even though it goes against his usual principles.

Back on set, Mu-hee follows Ho-jin’s advice and refuses to appear weak. She approaches Hiro with her fist raised as if she is about to punch him, only to transform the gesture into a heart at the last second. In that moment, Hiro’s heart begins racing.

The truth behind the envelope is then revealed. Hiro has long wanted to attend an ice hockey game, and Ho-jin managed to secure tickets for him.

A final flashback shows Hiro speaking with the writer, producer, and Ho-jin. The writer encourages him not to force fake smiles and to remain open to the possibility of developing genuine feelings for Mu-hee. Hiro promises that if he does fall for her, he will confess honestly.

The episode closes with Mu-hee running toward Ho-jin—only to stop short when she sees him talking to Ji-seon.
