Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their interest in Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, emerging as the most proactive contender among several Premier League suitors. While Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham have all been loosely linked with the 20-year-old England U21 international, CaughtOffside reports that the Blues have taken “decisive early action” in their pursuit.
According to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of a player swap involving midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka to facilitate the move. “I have heard that Chelsea are still very interested in Jamie Gittens,” Falk revealed. “His former youth coach at Cobham is said to have already made contact with him. There is an idea at the club to swap him for Chukwuemeka.”
Gittens, a product of Manchester City’s academy before joining Dortmund, has impressed with his pace, dribbling, and attacking flair, making him one of the most highly regarded young wingers in Europe. His past connection to Chelsea’s youth setup adds further intrigue, with the Blues keen to bring him back to west London.
While negotiations remain at an early stage, Chelsea’s aggressive stance and potential willingness to include Chukwuemeka in a swap deal could give them a competitive edge in securing one of England’s brightest attacking prospects.
