Following in his wife Ailee’s footsteps, Choi Si Hoon has now declared legal action against those spreading false and malicious rumors about him online. On Tuesday, the actor-turned-entrepreneur shared a photo of an official statement from his legal representative via his social media, signaling a serious response to the escalating issue.
The statement from Alpha Law Firm, acting on behalf of Choi Si Hoon, reads, “The Alpha Law Firm is taking legal action on behalf of Choi Si Hoon against the offending behavior.” It continues by highlighting the widespread circulation of defamatory content: “Currently, false facts, malicious slander, and insulting posts about our client, which differ from the actual facts, are being widely circulated on portal sites and online communities such as Dish Inside, Daum Cafe, Naver, and Fem Korea, as well as on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to a serious degree.”
Choi Si Hoon Legal Action Intensifies Online Monitoring
The law firm added that it is actively monitoring these platforms and collecting evidence to identify the sources of the false claims. “We are monitoring and collecting evidence and working with relevant authorities to identify the authors, and we will continue to take all possible civil and criminal measures to protect our clients, including the dissemination of falsehoods, defamation, and insults against our clients, without delay,” the notice stated. They also called for public cooperation in reporting offending content: “In addition, we ask for your cooperation by sending us the URL of the post along with the author and a screenshot of the post.”
This legal move mirrors a similar action taken by Choi’s wife, singer Ailee. Back on March 7, Ailee’s agency A2Z Entertainment announced plans to pursue legal action as well, citing harmful online attacks. The agency warned, “We have decided that we can no longer ignore the seriousness of the situation caused by malicious posts about our artist Ailee and are planning to take legal action. There will be no settlement or goodwill during the legal response to the reckless online malicious posts and comments that defamed our artist, including malicious slander, spreading falsehoods and insults.”
Recently, Choi Si Hoon has been the subject of various rapidly spreading rumors. On January 1, his name surfaced online after Lee Won, a cast member of Wave’s lesbian romance drama Your Love, responded to allegations that she had facilitated inappropriate encounters while working as a BJ (broadcast jockey). Though Lee Won clarified that “Choi Si Hoon is not a representative of the agency and has no direct relationship,” rumors about Choi’s past work began to circulate.
In response, Choi Si Hoon personally addressed the situation on his YouTube channel on March 27. “There was a post on the community that I was from Hostbar,” he said. “At first, I just ignored it, but the reaction was pretty serious, and I felt very unfair because it was my first experience like that.”
Meanwhile, Ailee and Choi Si Hoon, who is three years younger than her, tied the knot on March 20 in Gangnam, Seoul. The couple first met through mutual acquaintances and had already registered their marriage in August 2023 before holding the ceremony this spring.
