Wavve’s groundbreaking reality series “Your Love,” Korea’s first-ever lesbian dating show, has sparked heated discussion following revelations about a cast member’s controversial past.
Released on April 25, the show is produced by the same team behind Other People’s Love, which focused on men’s relationships and garnered widespread attention. “Your Love” presents the authentic dating experiences of women who love women, and immediately generated buzz following the release of its first and second episodes — frequently ranking at the top of trending community discussions.
However, attention quickly turned to cast member Li-one, who was accused of having a past as a provocative live-streaming BJ. Viewers expressed concern over reports that her broadcasts featured not just revealing outfits, but also overtly explicit content. The controversy prompted Li-one to delete all her previous social media posts before issuing a public apology on April 29 via her personal account.
In her statement, Li-one admitted to streaming adult content:
“From 2016, I engaged in private broadcasts for about two years, then again from November 2021 to March 2022, and from February to September 2024 — totaling around three years.”
She continued,
“Regardless of personal circumstances, I sincerely apologize for the disappointment and harm I caused by joining this program out of selfishness, without fully informing the production team and others involved.”
Li-one also shared a deeply personal account of her identity and struggles:
“I am a woman who loves women. I first realized my sexual orientation in middle school and was in a serious relationship with a woman for over two years. However, out of self-denial, I later dated both men and women. A former partner, who initially helped with my broadcasts, later used them to control me — threatening me with assault, imprisonment, hacking, and outing me to friends and family.”
“Unable to escape that situation, I applied to this program with a sincere desire to come out on my own terms rather than be outed by someone else. The producers and fellow cast members had no knowledge of my past. I am truly sorry that my presence has potentially undermined the meaningful intent behind Korea’s first lesbian love program.”
Wavve also released an official statement, accepting the seriousness of the issue:
“We acknowledge the heavy responsibility we carry as a production team. All cast members were selected through public applications and were evaluated based on their compatibility with the show’s concept, including sexual orientation. There was no unlawful or unethical behavior in the casting process.”
“Despite conducting three-day in-depth interviews and vetting each applicant thoroughly, we admit there were limitations in identifying all aspects of their history. We deeply apologize for causing concern to viewers.”
While both Li-one and Wavve have addressed the situation, neither has confirmed whether she will be edited out of future episodes or removed from the program. With only the first two episodes released, her presence could significantly affect the show’s narrative and love lines.
The controversy has sparked a split reaction online. While many viewers are voicing discomfort over Li-one’s previous explicit broadcasts, others are showing support, acknowledging her bravery in coming forward and her desire to share her story.
According to a report from Exports News, discussions about the editorial direction are still ongoing, but no decisions have been finalized.
As “Your Love” continues to unfold, public interest in how the situation will be handled — both in terms of narrative editing and the show’s message — remains high.
