Taeil will face his first day in court next month.
On April 18, it was reported that the Seoul Central District Court has scheduled the first trial for former NCT member Taeil, who was previously indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a woman. The trial will take place on May 12, 2025, under the jurisdiction of the 26th Criminal Division (Division D).
This development follows the indictment of Taeil and two others by the Women and Children’s Crime Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on February 28, 2025. All three were indicted without detention on the same charges.
Taeil was initially reported by the victim on June 13, 2024, and was booked shortly thereafter. He was summoned for investigation on August 28, 2024, which publicly revealed the case and caused significant shock among fans and netizens. Although arrest warrants were requested for all three suspects by the Seoul Bangbae Police Station, they were ultimately denied due to the suspects’ admission of the crime—leading authorities to judge that detention was unnecessary.
Taeil, who was the only public figure involved in the case, subsequently withdrew from both NCT and SM Entertainment. On October 15, 2024, SM announced the immediate termination of his exclusive contract. Taeil originally debuted with NCT in 2016 and was active in the sub-units NCT 127 and NCT U.
The upcoming trial will mark the next stage in the legal process, as the court prepares to examine the details of the case and determine an outcome. More developments are expected in the coming weeks.
