The legal battle between NewJeans and their agency ADOR has taken another dramatic turn. On April 16, the Seoul Central District Court officially upheld its earlier injunction preventing the members of NewJeans from pursuing independent activities under the name NJZ.
The injunction was initially granted last month at ADOR’s request, following claims that the NewJeans members were allegedly engaging in activities—such as signing advertisement deals—without the agency’s knowledge or approval.
Although the members appealed the ruling, citing repeated objections and presenting additional materials, the court reaffirmed its original stance. The judge stated, “Even while keeping in mind the claims and supporting materials [that the NewJeans members] are repeatedly emphasizing through this appeal… one can judge that this injunction decision is just.”
Not backing down, the NewJeans members immediately filed an appeal to the Seoul High Court following the decision. Their legal representative affirmed their commitment to pursuing the case, saying, “We will continue to diligently participate in the legal proceedings to come and do our utmost so that the facts can be clearly revealed.”
As this legal dispute intensifies, fans and industry watchers alike are closely monitoring the outcome, which could have a major impact on the future direction of NewJeans and their management under ADOR.
