Following explosive allegations made during a press conference by HoverLab Inc. and Kim Sae Ron’s family, actor Kim Soo Hyun’s agency GOLDMEDALIST has issued a firm official statement condemning the claims and vowing legal action. The statement, released through legal representative LKB & Partners on May 7, strongly refutes the legitimacy of the evidence presented and accuses the involved parties of serious criminal conduct.
Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency Slams HoverLab’s AI-Generated Audio
GOLDMEDALIST addressed HoverLab’s primary claim: that it had obtained an audio file involving the late actress Kim Sae Ron, purportedly implicating Kim Soo Hyun. The agency dismissed the recording as entirely fabricated, asserting that it was created using AI or voice manipulation technologies. According to the statement, the individual who supplied the audio—a self-proclaimed whistleblower—had previously approached GOLDMEDALIST with a blackmail attempt, demanding money in exchange for the doctored recording.
The agency confirmed that it rejected the demand outright and later discovered that the provider had no known connection to Kim Sae Ron. GOLDMEDALIST alleges that after the failed extortion, the individual partnered with HoverLab to push the forged material in a public setting. A technical investigation into the audio’s origin is currently underway, and the agency promised to disclose the results once the analysis concludes.
Disputing HoverLab’s “Attack Photo” Claim
Another central point addressed in the statement was the so-called “attack photo” allegedly showing injuries sustained by the audio provider—blamed on GOLDMEDALIST and legal counsel Kho Sang Rock. The agency denounced the image as a sham, stating that the photo is readily accessible online and has no ties to the company or the incident. GOLDMEDALIST labeled the accusation as senseless and an intentional smear tactic, emphasizing that the alleged victim had never been physically harmed by any party connected to the agency.
GOLDMEDALIST Vows Legal Action Against HoverLab
Calling the press conference a calculated act of cyber aggression, GOLDMEDALIST accused HoverLab of engaging in a string of offenses—ranging from defamation and stalking to AI abuse and evidence falsification. The agency claimed the event was not only baseless but also a textbook case of “AI-driven crime,” designed to destroy Kim Soo Hyun’s public image through forged materials and manipulation.
As a result, GOLDMEDALIST has announced that it will file criminal charges against HoverLab under the Stalking Punishment Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (Defamation clause). The agency expressed full confidence in South Korea’s investigative authorities and promised to pursue the matter with zero tolerance until justice is served.
