Good Boy Episode 1 Recap: Athletes in Uniform Face Corruption and Chaos

However, things go south when Man-sik steps away briefly, and an explosion ruins their stakeout. Dong-ju is left to confront the target, Golden Bunny, but is swiftly overpowered and knocked out. The operation fails, and both officers face backlash from their team.

As the dust settles, we meet other former athletes who have joined the force. Shin Jae-hong, once Dong-ju’s teammate, is now a traffic cop. Han-na, however, finds herself caught between Dong-ju and another former athlete, Jong-hyeon, who’s now a high-ranking audit officer. In an absurd yet painful twist, the driver traps his hand in the window before speeding away. While trying to recover, Dong-ju finds a victim of a hit-and-run and gets him to the hospital, unknowingly connecting himself to a much bigger case.

Later, Dong-ju tries to reconnect with his brother but receives no reply. At a ceremony honoring his old coach, a darker history unfolds. We learn that Dong-ju was slandered with doping allegations after refusing to enter MMA. The same coach may have also introduced Dong-ju’s brother to drugs—who is now missing.

Determined to reclaim some control, Dong-ju begins investigating the hit-and-run himself. He breaks into the audit room and snatches a report detailing a smuggled car—the very same vehicle involved in his accident. Meanwhile, Jong-hyeon continues to dig into the explosion during the failed operation. When he discovers that the hit-and-run victim had filed an arson report just minutes before the blast, it becomes evident that someone from within leaked sensitive information. He alerts Man-sik and warns that Dong-ju might be in danger.

Things reach a boiling point when Dong-ju follows a lead and enters a gangster hideout alone. Simultaneously, Han-na is tasked with returning the deceased victim’s belongings. But as she takes them home, a gang tricks her into opening her door, attacking her in search of key documents. Displaying her sharpshooting skills, she defends herself with her gun.

In an electrifying sequence, every major character ends up in a separate showdown. Dong-ju boxes his way through thugs, Han-na fires back with precision, Jong-hyeon wields a fencing sword against his attackers, and Man-sik draws on his wrestling roots. Jae-hong caps it all off by hurling an iron sewer cover at an oncoming car like a discus champion. Each character’s fighting style reflects their athletic past, merging sports and action in an exhilarating climax.
