Hearts2Hearts Airport Incident Sparks Security Debate
The Hearts2Hearts airport incident has once again drawn public attention after a controversial clash between a fan and a security guard at Incheon International Airport. On June 8, the girl group was en route to China via shuttle train when the situation escalated.
A woman carrying a large telephoto camera—often called a “bazooka camera,” commonly used by obsessive fans or paparazzi—collided with one of the Hearts2Hearts members inside the airport shuttle. A security guard responded aggressively, pushing the woman by the neck, striking her face with his elbow, and yelling at her in front of witnesses.

The Hearts2Hearts airport incident was recorded and rapidly shared across social media platforms. It was later covered in a June 10 segment on JTBC’s Incident Chief, which aired footage and reported quotes from the scene. According to their coverage, the security guard yelled, “Are you crazy? Why are you hitting the members?” The woman reportedly responded that she was also boarding and had a valid pass. The confrontation reportedly continued inside the shuttle train.
Incident Chief also included a statement from SM Entertainment, the agency behind Hearts2Hearts. They claimed the individual was a known “sasaeng” who had been pushing and attempting physical contact with the members from the moment they entered the airport. While admitting that the physical force used was excessive, the agency said it has filed a complaint with the private security company and demanded preventative actions to avoid future conflicts.
SM added, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern and promise to improve our protocols to ensure safety and order in public areas where our artists travel.”
This isn’t the first time the group has drawn criticism over airport security. In March, a similar outcry occurred at Gimpo International Airport when fans and security got into a chaotic confrontation. A video of an enraged traveler cursing at the disruption spread online, reigniting criticism about how the group’s security detail manages public appearances.
