In Heavenly Ever After Episode 10, layers of hidden truths come unraveling as Som-I’s fragmented memories threaten her growing bond with Nak-jun. After overhearing a police officer address the pastor Eun-ho as Nak-jun’s son, she starts connecting pieces of her own past. Som-I recalls seeing a child named Eun-ho in her visions and assumes he’s Nak-jun’s child. However, she soon overhears Hae-suk telling someone that she and Nak-jun never had children—just as she had once told Eun-ho himself.
As Som-I tries to make sense of it all, another vision strikes her during the night—this time, the certainty that Eun-ho is her son. Just when she’s about to confide in Nak-jun, a much darker memory surfaces. She remembers Nak-jun taking Eun-ho away from her and accepting money from a police officer. This leads to haunting images of news clippings about children sold overseas. Enraged by what she believes to be betrayal, she confronts Nak-jun and accuses him of selling her son. When he questions her identity, a terrifying image of him holding her underwater flashes before her eyes. Panicked, she strikes Nak-jun and flees.
A Key to the Heavenly Lottery
Elsewhere in Heavenly Ever After Episode 10, Hae-suk stumbles upon the mystical “lottery game” of the afterlife. Here, Heaven gives residents the chance to send a lottery ticket to someone they love on Earth—if they can unlock a magical chest by earning a key through sincere prayer. Hae-suk quickly learns that dramatic stories gain the most sympathy during the contest. Though Nak-jun brushes her off, distracted by Som-I’s breakdown, Hae-suk is determined to win and even tries bribing the Heavenly president for hints.
Despite her shady efforts, Hae-suk’s key only appears after the pastor—her son, though he doesn’t know it yet—sincerely prays for her. With the key in hand, the contest begins. One of the contenders is a woman whose husband had escaped Hell to find her. Her tear-jerking speech about their lost love earns her a near-perfect score of 99 points.
The Performance That Changed Everything
When it’s Hae-suk’s turn, her initial story fails to move the audience. Desperate, she makes up a dramatic tale claiming the pastor was abandoned and declares herself his mother. Though it seems like a manipulative twist, it turns out to be unintentionally true.
Back in her turmoil, Som-I continues to chase memories, now fully convinced that Eun-ho is her and Nak-jun’s child. But Nak-jun gently corrects her—Eun-ho is Hae-suk’s son, not theirs. This shocking revelation not only clears Som-I’s confusion but also explains why Hae-suk wasn’t penalized during the lottery: her “lie” was actually the truth.
The episode ends with Hae-suk and Eun-ho walking hand-in-hand in triumph, basking in the victory of their performance and reunion, while Som-I’s world is shaken by revelations of who she truly is—and isn’t.
