Star-Studded Cast Confirmed for New Historical Epic “Munmu”
The highly anticipated 2026 historical drama Munmu has officially confirmed a powerful lineup of veteran actors, raising excitement across the industry. With the Munmu drama cast featuring Lee Hyun Wook, Jang Hyuk, Kim Kang Woo, Park Sung Woong, Jung Woong In, and Jo Seong Ha, the series is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious historical projects in recent years.
Munmu, directed by Kim Yeong Jo of Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, will depict the dramatic journey of how the small kingdom of Silla overcame the far stronger states of Goguryeo, Baekje, and the Tang dynasty to eventually unify the Three Kingdoms. The series will explore political strategy, war, betrayal, loyalty, and the rise of leaders whose choices changed history.
Lee Hyun Wook stars as Kim Pom Min, the eldest son of Kim Chun Chu and nephew of Kim Yu Sin. Kim Pom Min is portrayed as a proud, sharp-minded strategist capable of enduring humiliation for the greater good. Amid brutal battlefields filled with loss and despair, he becomes the king who finalizes the unification of the peninsula.
Jang Hyuk takes on Yeon Gaesomun, Goguryeo’s fearsome war god and authoritarian ruler. His unmatched military strength leads Goguryeo to victory after victory, yet his iron-fisted dictatorship casts a long shadow over the kingdom’s future.
