Man United Eye Shock £42.5m Move for Fiorentina Striker Moise Kean
Manchester United are reportedly weighing a surprise move for Fiorentina’s in-form forward Moise Kean as they prepare to revamp their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
According to Footmercato, Kean has emerged as one of four forwards under consideration by the Old Trafford hierarchy as they back Ruben Amorim with fresh firepower this summer.
A Comeback Season in Italy
Kean, still just 25, has bounced back in emphatic fashion this season. Once written off after a difficult stint at Everton—where he managed just four goals in 39 appearances—the Italian international has rediscovered his form in Serie A.
Now thriving under Fiorentina, he has scored 17 goals and registered 3 assists in 30 league games, with 23 goals in all competitions. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with European giants like Barcelona also monitoring his progress.
Release Clause Creates Urgency
Manchester United’s interest is partly driven by the £42.5 million release clause in Kean’s contract. However, this clause is only active between July 1 and July 15, meaning United will need to act swiftly at the start of the summer window to seal a cut-price deal.
Viewed as a budget-friendly option compared to other targets, Kean could provide depth and competition in a forward line still in transition.
United’s Striker Shortlist
Kean is not the only name under consideration. United are also pursuing:
- Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting CP): The Swedish striker remains United’s top priority, following a monstrous goalscoring season in Portugal.
- Liam Delap (Ipswich Town): A promising talent expected to leave Ipswich following their relegation to the Championship.
- Victor Osimhen (Napoli, on loan at Galatasaray): The Nigerian striker remains a marquee option, though any move would require a major financial outlay.
Silverware Still in Reach
Kean and Fiorentina still have a shot at European glory this season. The Viola are set to face Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League semi-final second leg, adding more weight to Kean’s rising stock.
With the clock ticking on Kean’s release clause, Manchester United may be tempted to make a quick decision. Whether he’s seen as a long-term solution or a stopgap, the Man United Moise Kean transfer saga is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing storylines of the summer.
