Mason Greenwood Premier League talks are heating up once again. Less than a year after his departure from Manchester United, the 23-year-old striker is reportedly pushing for a surprise return to England following a turbulent yet productive run with Marseille.
According to The Sun, Greenwood has grown increasingly unsettled despite scoring 19 goals in 33 matches for the Ligue 1 club. The striker, who joined Marseille in a £26 million move after a loan spell at Getafe, is said to be “yearning” for home and eager to settle back in the north west of England with his partner Harriet Robson and their two daughters.
The forward’s move abroad was seen as a fresh start after charges of attempted rape and assault were dropped by UK prosecutors. Though his life off the pitch has reportedly stabilized, sources claim “the novelty has worn off,” prompting renewed interest in a domestic return.
Growing Interest Across England
A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly monitoring Greenwood’s situation as the summer transfer window nears. Manchester United, though no longer involved in his future directly, stand to benefit financially due to a sell-on clause in his deal with Marseille.
But Greenwood’s performance in France hasn’t been without controversy. Manager Roberto De Zerbi has questioned his dedication, saying, “I expect more from him… what he is currently showing is not enough.” Frustrated fans have echoed that sentiment, with Marseille Ultras even unfurling a banner demanding Greenwood “get a move on.”
Whether or not Greenwood’s Premier League comeback materializes, it’s clear his name is once again stirring conversation — and likely negotiations — across England.
