In the intense second episode of Bet, Miku Martineau outsmarts Suki in a duel that exposes more than just school gossip — it rips the lid off hidden trauma, fake personas, and psychological warfare.
The episode opens with influencer Suki, St. Dominics’ resident social media queen, outing Mary as a serial cheater in her previous games. As Mary suffers public disgrace, Yumeko — played by Martineau — keeps climbing the social and gambling ladder with effortless wins. Her victories draw the attention of Kira, the student council president, who extends her an invitation to join Spade House — the school’s most elite circle. Yumeko declines, igniting a smear campaign led by Suki through a propaganda livestream.
A Lifeline for Mary
While the rest of the school turns against Mary, Yumeko quietly extends a gesture of mercy, letting Mary and Ryan sit with her. It’s a small move, but it signals Yumeko’s growing influence — one rooted not just in domination, but in control of perception.
The Icebreaker Duel: Heartbeats and Secrets
Suki soon challenges Yumeko to an “Icebreaker Duel,” a ruthless game where players interrogate each other while wearing heart rate monitors. If a participant’s heart rate exceeds 85, they lose. Mary warns that no one has ever beaten Suki at this game, and Suki knows exactly how to dig deep — especially into Yumeko’s past.
As Yumeko prepares, we flash back to a haunting memory: a young Yumeko hiding in a closet, overhearing her parents in a heated argument with an unidentified guest. It’s clear her past holds deep trauma. In the present, Yumeko notices someone’s been snooping in her room — Suki — and that he’s seen a photo she planted as bait, concealing the real one of her late parents.
Yumeko confides in Michael in the library, revealing her fear of being forced to relive her parents’ tragic death during the duel. She asks for his help in the upcoming game, not to win — but to survive it emotionally.
Suki’s True Face Revealed
The duel begins, both players exchanging veiled truths with calm exteriors. Then Suki raises the stakes: if he wins, he wants Yumeko’s fingernails — to add to his grotesque collection. He brandishes a mirrored chip that belonged to Yumeko’s mother, digging into her pain and pushing her heart rate dangerously close to 85.
Just when it seems Suki might win, Michael intervenes. He plays a video clip that exposes Suki as a fraud — slaughtering an animal off-camera despite his public image as a vegan and animal rights advocate. The footage shatters Suki’s credibility and pushes him into cardiac defeat. Yumeko wins, and in doing so, also secures numerous side bets — one of which correctly predicted Suki would lose all of his followers by the game’s end.
Fallout and a Final Twist
Kira removes Suki from the student council, citing damage control and protecting the council’s reputation. Suki’s fall is swift and absolute. Meanwhile, a bizarre subplot unfolds: Ryan is chased through the school by someone in a terrifying teddy bear costume, and in his panic, he loses nearly all of his gambling earnings. Elsewhere, Michael questions Yumeko’s background, noticing how perfectly scrubbed her records are. Before Yumeko can respond, the school intercom crackles with breaking news — Suki is dead.
