MoonOne Apology Statement: Shinji’s Fiancé Addresses Backlash Over Past Allegations
On July 3, MoonOne, the fiancé of Koyote member Shinji, released an official statement after facing intense backlash for his recent remarks and various allegations about his past.
Last month, Shinji’s agency confirmed that the Koyote singer would marry MoonOne in the first half of next year. On July 2, MoonOne appeared on Shinji’s YouTube channel alongside her Koyote groupmates Kim Jong Min and Bbaek Ga. However, his comments during the video immediately drew public criticism. Many viewers took issue with MoonOne saying he “didn’t know Shinji was such a famous person” despite Koyote’s 27-year legacy. He also admitted to having a divorce and a daughter, explaining that he revealed this to Shinji only after their relationship became serious.
While some questioned his honesty about his past, others slammed his comments as disrespectful to Shinji’s groupmates, given the group’s long-standing popularity in Korea.
Following the video’s viral spread — which amassed over 2 million views and tens of thousands of comments urging Shinji to reconsider the marriage — several allegations about MoonOne’s past began circulating online. Netizens claiming to be former acquaintances, classmates, or army colleagues accused him of bullying, cheating, and being involved in shady real estate deals. Some even alleged he married his ex-wife because she was pregnant after he dated multiple women at once.

MoonOne Confirms Real Estate Controversy But Denies Bullying Claims
In his detailed MoonOne Apology Statement posted on Instagram, he addressed both the backlash and the allegations. He first apologized to Koyote fans, Shinji’s fans, and especially Shinji herself for his careless words and actions in the video. MoonOne also apologized to Kim Jong Min and Bbaek Ga for showing what he described as disrespectful behavior.
Regarding the real estate claims, MoonOne admitted they were true. He explained that during his less-established days, he worked in real estate brokerage without a license to make ends meet, not realizing it was illegal. He acknowledged this was entirely his fault and promised to take responsibility for it.
However, he strongly denied the accusations that he bullied anyone during his school or military service. He stated he is willing to provide evidence to clear his name if necessary. He also confirmed that while it is true he married his ex-wife after she became pregnant, the rumors that he was seeing multiple women at the same time are false.
Addressing questions about his name, MoonOne clarified that Park Sang Moon is his legal name — he only changed his stage name from Gi Ryeon to MoonOne and never changed his legal identity.
Pledging to Be More Responsible
MoonOne concluded his statement with an apology for the concern caused and pledged to reflect on his shortcomings as he prepares for marriage with Shinji. He asked the public to stop spreading unverified rumors and promised to become more responsible moving forward.
MoonOne’s apology statement comes at a sensitive time for Shinji’s fans, who have been flooding social media with mixed reactions — some supportive, others deeply concerned about the singer’s future marriage plans. For more Korean entertainment news, check out the link below.
