Our Movie Episode 2 Recap: Da-eum’s Fight to Live
I just watched Our Movie Episode 2 and honestly, it wrecked me in the best way possible. So here’s my Our Movie Episode 2 recap — a deep dive into Da-eum’s desperate dream, her heartbreaking family history, and Je-ha’s moral struggle.
This episode kicks off with a gut-wrenching flashback: Da-eum’s mother, who’s terminally ill, tries to keep things light with her handycam and IV drip “grape juice.” But after she passes away, Da-eum’s father, Dr. Lee, learns the worst — her illness is genetic. It’s now Da-eum’s burden too.
We see Da-eum in school, throwing herself into a Frida Kahlo play audition. Her voiceover hit me hard — she knows her life is painfully short, so acting is her way to live a thousand lives. She’s terrified but refuses to hide away.
When she bumps into Je-ha again — the director of a tragic remake — she learns the story mirrors her own: the female lead in the original survives, but the remake’s heroine dies. This stirs something in Da-eum. She sees this role as her chance to tell her story before time runs out.

Meanwhile, Je-ha seems cynical at first, claiming “epic love” is a lie. But Da-eum tells him hope is her fuel to keep breathing. Their conversation about fear and family losses connects them — especially when she reminds him what suffocating dread feels like.
The auditions are classic drama chaos. Investors want big names, so they push for Seo-yeong as the lead. But she doesn’t fit Gyu-won; Je-ha knows it — and so does Da-eum, who shows up with a quiet, raw performance that floors everyone. She bolts before the male lead, Jung-woo (Je-ha’s old muse), even arrives.
Je-ha’s torn. Da-eum’s dying — what if she can’t finish the film? But she’s fearless. She argues that if she dies mid-shoot, the tragedy will make the movie even bigger. It sounds cold, but to her, it’s worth it if she can live her dream now.
Meanwhile, Seung-won tries to keep Da-eum as backup. But when Seo-yeong and Jung-woo both agree to the remake, she gets pushed aside. We see the tangled past between Je-ha and Seo-yeong — an old scandal forced him to dump her to protect her career, leaving her heartbroken.
Back with Da-eum, she passes Round 1 of auditions and runs off with her friend, determined to live freely. Her father still won’t let her be an outpatient, haunted by how his wife died alone. But Da-eum refuses to let her story end the same way.
At the core of Our Movie Episode 2 is Je-ha’s conflict: the remake’s investor only cares about gossip — the original film was rumored to be Du-young’s love letter to his mistress. Now the remake’s selling point is that Du-young’s son is directing it. The tragedy sells better than the story itself.
At the final interview, Je-ha asks Da-eum why she chose acting. Her answer is raw: her mother never found her dream, and she doesn’t want to repeat that regret. As she beams at Je-ha, telling him to trust her, he quietly begs her not to die.
This Our Movie Episode 2 recap just proves how haunting yet beautiful this K-drama is — it’s about finding purpose, clinging to hope, and living loudly even when life feels cruelly short. I can’t wait to see what happens next. For more Korean drama recap, check out the link below.
