Our Unwritten Seoul Episode 9 Recap: Twin Swap & Scandal
I just finished Our Unwritten Seoul Episode 9, and trust me, it was packed with reveals, betrayals, and one massive twin twist. So here’s my Our Unwritten Seoul Episode 9 recap — let’s break it all down.
Episode 9 kicks off with Mi-ji about to scan her finger to get into the data room… but here’s the twist — the scanner recognizes her as Mi-rae. That’s right: the sisters already swapped places! I wasn’t ready for that reveal so early on.
As the story unfolds, we get a glimpse of Mi-rae’s heavy burden — she’s always chosen which battles to fight, and which to abandon. With the Su-yeon scandal, she tried to do the right thing, but it all fell apart and she ran. Ironically, she found a bit of hope in Se-jin.
Back in Seoul, Mi-ji bumps into Tae-i on the street. He’s Su-yeon’s younger brother and secretly joined the company to gather evidence for her. Now they have a choice: blow the whistle or stay silent. Tae-i knows Mi-rae’s the only one who can truly expose the corruption, but she doesn’t see herself as strong enough — she’s tired and defeated.
Things get tense between the sisters. After a painful argument, they part ways again. We get heartbreaking flashbacks of Sang-yeong, who once felt guilty for not helping Mi-rae at work when she was bullied. He tried to protect her — or so we thought — but wow, does that blow up later.

Meanwhile, Tae-i opens up about Su-yeon’s whistleblowing. She got forced to pressure a third-party evaluator and blew the lid off Sihan Construction — a company suspiciously connected to the new CEO’s family. It’s the same firm where Mi-rae’s rumored “scandal” began.
Turns out, that rumor wasn’t what it seemed. Sang-yeong got drunk, Mi-rae picked him up, he crossed the line, tried to kiss her, and when she refused, he spun the whole story to make it look like she came on to him. The HR team gaslit her, blamed her, and pushed her out. Watching Mi-rae break down under all that blame was infuriating.
Tae-i can’t expose it himself — it’ll look like revenge for his sister. So once again, it falls on Mi-rae’s shoulders. But she’s exhausted, torn between wanting to move on and honoring Su-yeon’s fight.
On another front, Mi-ji gets a surprising offer from Ro-sa: adult guardianship of her son, who’s in a care facility. It’s ironic, given Mi-ji’s been caring for her own grandmother alone. As the drama escalates, Ho-su invites Mi-ji to stay with him, showing his sweet, awkward charm.
At work, Tae-i secretly drops a bombshell post on the worker’s forum about Sihan Construction’s corruption. The company scrambles to bury it, but Tae-i passes all the evidence to Mi-rae — she’s got to choose: expose the truth or run again.
Meanwhile, management blackmails Ro-sa to sell her restaurant by threatening her son’s care. Mi-ji tries to explain the twin swap, but Ro-sa is furious and kicks her out. Mi-ji confesses everything to Ho-su later, and his quiet support is one of the episode’s softer moments.
Back home, Mi-ji faces Ok-hui’s rage — their mom figures out the twin swap. Mi-ji finally lets it out, calling her mom out for always favoring Mi-rae and expecting Mi-ji to sacrifice herself for the family. That scene hit hard — messy family wounds, raw truths, all of it.
In the final stretch, Tae-i takes Mi-rae to see Su-yeon. Locked away for months, Su-yeon apologizes for leaving Mi-rae to face the mess alone. Then, outside Mi-rae’s place, Sang-yeong corners her, tries to get her to transfer to another branch, but she records the convo — until he catches her and deletes it.
He mocks her for being alone — but he’s wrong. Mi-ji swoops in and confronts him head-on. They end up at the police station, where Ho-su backs them up. Finally, Mi-rae stands her ground. She presses charges. She’s done hiding.
While Se-jin heads to Seoul, Ro-sa refuses to sell, but Chung-gu retaliates by leaking an email titled “the woman who stole her friend’s life.” The final moments left me breathless — the stakes are sky-high, and I can’t wait to see how Mi-rae and Mi-ji fight back together.
