Resident Playbook Episode 10 — Romance, Rivalries, and a Critical Emergency Unite the Team
Resident Playbook episode 10 opens with a harrowing moment—an emergency delivery patient with postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) dies on the operating table as I-yeong tries desperately to save her. She jolts awake; it had only been a nightmare. The following day, Professor Seo leads a session on identifying PPH, highlighting the urgency after the recent real-life case.
This lesson sets the stage for tension as Professor Seo and Professor Kong begin clashing over operating room schedules. Both try to assert dominance by pushing their agendas through I-yeong and Nam-kyung, who become collateral in their power struggle and soon start butting heads themselves.
Secret Dating, Rising Tension, and Sa-bi’s Misplaced Blame
Meanwhile, Sa-bi irritates Professor Cho by opting to attend another surgery instead of his. Elsewhere, we discover that I-yeong and Do-won are officially dating, though I-yeong insists on keeping the relationship under wraps. They return home to find Ju-yeong still awaiting clarity—her IVF blood test results remain inconclusive.
At the hospital, I-yeong and Do-won attempt to sneak in moments together, but are repeatedly interrupted. The tension between I-yeong and Nam-kyung worsens as the pressure from both professors mounts. In another scene, Professor Cho accuses Sa-bi of feeding a fasting patient pre-surgery and lashes out with personal attacks. However, it’s later revealed that another resident was at fault. Witnessing this, Professor Ryu steps in kindly and offers Sa-bi a coffee, signaling quiet support.
Ju-yeong’s Disappointment and Unexpected Hospital Cameos
The next day, Ju-yeong’s test confirms the IVF procedure has failed. I-yeong arrives just in time to comfort her. Meanwhile, an unexpected comedic twist arrives—Ik-jun shows up in the ER with his palms glued together after a mishap. We also learn that he and Professor Seo are old friends, and Song-hwa, who had been working with Seo in the lab, soon joins them.
Elsewhere, Professor Cho continues berating Sa-bi until Professor Ryu finally intervenes. Cho offers a rare apology and leaves, finally putting an end to the toxic exchange.
PPH Emergency Sparks Unity and Closes the Rivalry
Later, I-yeong and Nam-kyung are called for another emergency PPH case. Though shaken, they act fast, aided by Ik-jun who reviews the patient’s history—a liver transplant recipient—and clears them for surgery. Both residents overcome their fear and work together. Professors Seo and Kong arrive during the operation and witness the residents’ dedication. Successfully saving the patient helps dissolve their petty rivalry, replaced (for now) by a newfound sense of teamwork.
The Hospital’s Secret Dating Spot and an Unexpected Witness
As the night winds down, Ik-jun shows Song-hwa a secret hospital “dating ground”—the outpatient ward, deserted after hours. Meanwhile, Jae-il and Sa-bi quietly leave the same ward, having shared dinner in peace as Jae-il promised.
But just as Jae-il returns to retrieve something, he catches an unexpected scene—I-yeong and Do-won stepping out of a room hand-in-hand, exposing their secret relationship as the episode ends.
