Second Shot at Love Episode 2: Geum-ju’s Disappearance and Ui-joon’s Painful Past
Second Shot at Love Episode 2 begins with Geum-ju running away, and Miss Nosy later seeing her heading toward the river. By morning, her clothes and shoes are found on the riverbank, making everyone believe she drowned. However, a flashback reveals that she merely stepped in dog poop and entered the river to clean up. She then jumped in front of Ui-joon’s car, leading him to crash and break his leg while swerving. Though annoyed, he ends up carrying her home.
Come morning, she offers him money out of embarrassment, but is interrupted by a call saying that people are looking for her dead body. When she shows up, her family is relieved, but her mother, Gwang-ok, is so overwhelmed that she attempts to drown herself. Meanwhile, Ui-joon and Seon-wook discuss how Geum-ju caused the accident—news that spreads quickly thanks to Miss Nosy.
Geum-ju Takes Care of Ui-joon
Everyone scolds Geum-ju and assigns her to look after Ui-joon to make up for her blunder. A lighthearted montage follows, showing her driving him around and doing his clinic chores. When she asks why he left Seoul, he deflects and instead questions her about her previous job. Flashbacks show how she was mistreated at work and decided to use all her PTO in protest, which led to her getting fired.

Gwang-ok Declares an Alcohol Ban
At present, nosy neighbors pressure Gwang-ok, who retaliates by banning alcohol sales. This hits the sellers hard as she also controls the town’s loan system. Flashbacks show that drinking has wreaked havoc in the family—Hyeon-ju got pregnant, married, and divorced because of it, while Jeong-su lost everything.
As the alcohol ban continues, Ui-joon tells Geum-ju the town is trying to help her, which annoys her. She calls him out for drinking himself. Later, Seon-wook shares that Ui-joon left Seoul to treat patients in a medically underserved town. However, Young-woong is skeptical and discovers a post implying Ui-joon lost his hospital tenure and fiancée, became an alcoholic, and now refuses offers from Seoul hospitals.
Geum-ju Tries to Support Ui-joon
She finds Ui-joon at the riverside—a place she once introduced to him after his grandmother’s death. She tries to ignore her feelings but reflects on her own heartbreak after Ju-yeop, wishing she had support. She cooks for Ui-joon and gives him pep talks. Though confused, he doesn’t reject her efforts, but his nurse warns Geum-ju not to pursue him romantically.
Soon, Ui-joon declines another offer from Seoul, prompting Geum-ju to confront him. She reveals she knows about his past—only to be told that the alumni post wasn’t about him.

Romantic Tensions and Old Wounds
Meanwhile, Hyeon-ju flirts with Seon-wook during her twins’ taekwondo class. Though others pity her lost stardom, Seon-wook still sees her as a star. Back with the leads, Ui-joon tells Geum-ju to stay out of his life, echoing a flashback from the airport where he once said the same. Hurt, she scolds herself for crossing his boundaries, though he can’t stop thinking about her.
The next day, she tries to resume her caretaker duties, but an alert about Ju-yeop’s birthday cake sends her rushing to Seoul. She runs into Ju-yeop, who admits to cheating while drunk. Furious, she tells him to shape up for his child’s sake. He retorts that she, too, needs to sort out her life.
Ui-joon’s Inner Conflict
She throws the cake at Ju-yeop and gets drunk. Ui-joon, worried, finds her babbling to Seon-wook. He mistakenly thinks she ditched him to party. Seon-wook sets him straight, saying she’s in pain and needs to grow up. As Geum-ju cries, Ui-joon drinks alone. That’s when he sees a shocking comment on the alumni post—it accuses him of killing someone.
Epilogue
In the Second Shot at Love Episode 2 epilogue, a flashback to 2011 shows Ui-joon and Geum-ju in a drinking contest. She loses and he carries her home, claiming he wants to win at everything to always be able to take care of her.
