In Second Shot at Love Ep 3, tensions simmer between Ui-joon and Geum-ju after the alumni post causes a sleepless night for Ui-joon. As old feelings resurface and misunderstandings pile up, their emotional entanglement becomes more complicated. This episode dives into the pain of unspoken memories, forgotten kisses, and the messy aftermath of love that never quite died.
Geum-ju and Ui-joon Clash, Then Reconnect
Following the fallout from the alumni post, Ui-joon spends a restless night, haunted by memories. The next day, Geum-ju is back to fixing his car, while Young-woong steps in to ease tensions with his usual awkward charm. He tries to be the peacemaker, telling each of them how the other still cares. He reminds Ui-joon that Geum-ju even fixed parts of the car that weren’t damaged, underscoring her ongoing affection.
A Painful Past Comes to Light
A flashback to 2010 shows just how deep their connection runs. As gossip swirls about Ui-joon’s family tragedy, it’s Geum-ju who arranges a memorial service for his grandmother. Her kindness during his darkest time left a lasting impression. In the present, they run into each other, and Geum-ju vaguely explains her reasons for drinking. Ui-joon accuses her of alcoholism, but she brushes it off, claiming she just doesn’t want to stop. Their back-and-forth ends on a softer note as they seem to settle their differences.
Geum-ju’s False Pride Gets Bruised
Geum-ju’s ex-boss calls her with a so-called urgent issue—only to ask a trivial bar-related question. She gloats at first, then is irritated to learn the company is doing just fine without her. Meanwhile, Hyeon-ju ogles a beer ad during Seon-wook’s workout session. She jokes about needing a hobby, prompting him to offer free taekwondo lessons. But even after class, she’s more interested in a drink than fitness.
Work Sparks More Awkward Chemistry
Geum-ju and Ui-joon resume their village rounds, but tension lingers. When Geum-ju trips on a rocky path and he catches her, the moment is charged. But Ui-joon bolts, flustered. His nurse, convinced Geum-ju is flirting, warns her to back off.
Then comes a high point—Geum-ju receives word that her canceled wedding venue has issued a refund. Giddy with excitement, she dreams of all the ways to splurge. But just as things seem to turn, her father Jeong-su finds out the man who scammed him is now wealthy. He drinks with his daughters to cope, and Geum-ju quietly pays the tab, hiding it from Gwang-ok.
Secrets, Gossip, and a Brewing Storm
Gwang-ok, thinking the Hans have quit drinking, praises them and waives interest on their debts. But when she discovers a receipt, she explodes and decides to move out. As punishment, the family is sent to temple-run rehab. Gwang-ok hears Mrs. Nosy gossiping about Geum-ju and harshly scolds her, demanding interest from the day before.
At the temple, the monk asks each person to reflect. Jeong-su admits alcohol makes him braver. Hyeon-ju confesses it lifts her out of her miserable daily life. Geum-ju, surprisingly unaffected, tries to cheer them on instead. Meanwhile, Seon-wook looks after Hyeon-ju’s kids but feels invisible to her.
The Truth About the Refund
Ui-joon dashes to a hospital in Seoul and unexpectedly runs into Ju-yeop and Lee Ha-na, now parents to a child. It makes him rethink his harshness toward Geum-ju. That night, she receives a text that changes everything—a booking confirmation from the wedding hall. It turns out Ju-yeop is marrying Lee Ha-na at the same venue and on the same date once reserved for his wedding with Geum-ju. He’s the one who paid this time, meaning he never paid a cent for his wedding with Geum-ju. Her joy at the refund turns to sorrow.
The next day, Ui-joon finds her coming down from the temple and asks if she’s okay. She breaks down in tears, no longer able to hide her pain.
Forgotten Kisses and Regretful Eavesdropping
An emotional flashback reveals Ui-joon had confessed his feelings and kissed her after the drinking contest. But in the present, Geum-ju has no memory of it—she blacked out. Her friend assumes they’re dating, but Geum-ju laughs it off, saying she only looks out for him because he’s alone. Ui-joon overhears this while holding a gift for her, and the look on his face says it all.
