Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun recently opened up about her emotional experiences as the group’s youngest member, revealing that she often cried in the early days of her career due to the playful teasing from her older groupmates.
In the latest episode of “Hyoyeon’s Level Up” on YouTube, released on April 16, Seohyun joined Hyoyeon for an honest and heartwarming conversation. Titled “Seohyun is here to keep Hyoyeon in line (with informal talk) / BabsaHyo Ep.31: Girls’ Generation Seohyun,” the episode explored their past dynamics as idols.
Reflecting on their early years, Hyoyeon said, “All of us could be pretty mischievous back then.” Seohyun agreed, admitting, “I cried a lot. I couldn’t take jokes well when I was younger.” She recalled a memorable moment from a birthday during their Japan tour: “We were having a party, and I stepped out to the bathroom. When I came back, everyone was gone. I was almost in tears. But then they surprised me by jumping out from behind the curtain.”
Laughing at the memory, Hyoyeon admitted they were worried Seohyun would take it seriously. Seohyun added, “I’m only sharing the nice stories.”
The conversation then turned to how Seohyun has grown stronger over time. “I don’t cry anymore,” she said. “Now I can joke around too. But back then, I was just a baby and would think, ‘Did I do something wrong?’”
They also discussed the shift in their communication style as they’ve gotten older. Seohyun shared that she now speaks informally with members like Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Yuri, saying, “If I didn’t make the change now, I’d probably never be able to speak casually to them—not even until we die.”
She also opened up about how an acting role helped her become more comfortable with informal speech. “The senior actor I worked with told me to treat him like a friend. It was hard at first, but once I did, it really broke the ice.”
When Hyoyeon playfully asked Seohyun to speak to her informally, Seohyun did so without hesitation, catching Hyoyeon off guard and bringing laughter to the set.
The episode gave fans a deeper look into the bond the Girls’ Generation members share, highlighting both the emotional challenges and the lasting love between them.
