Song Jia Targets Chinese Fans With New Travel Vlogs
With Chinese content restrictions easing, Song Jia—better known by her YouTube persona “The Frisia”—is making a renewed effort to win over her fanbase across the continent.
The influencer and singer recently released two travel-themed videos back-to-back on her YouTube channel, The Frisia. The first video, titled The Frisia Diary: A Day as a Teenage Hero, featured her top hangout spots in Jongno, including Sewoon Shopping Center, a tea omakase experience, vintage camera shopping, and unique haircare products. In the second vlog, she spotlighted Seoul’s trendy locales like the evolving Haeundae Village, the Yongsan U.S. Military Base area, and shared personal photo tips and sunscreen picks.
These videos mark a departure from her earlier uploads that primarily focused on fashion styling and makeup tutorials. The Frisia channel recently celebrated its first anniversary. Song Jia rose to fame as a contestant on Netflix’s Single’s Inferno Season 1, which aired from mid-December 2021 to early January 2022. Her original YouTube channel freezia rapidly gained 2.41 million subscribers. However, the channel was deactivated following a scandal involving counterfeit fashion items, with the final upload being a Christmas vlog filmed in Busan.
Her new channel, The Frisia, currently has around 655,000 subscribers (as of Pringy). Although she resumed content creation in 2024 and made a brief appearance in Netflix’s Comedy Revenge Episode 4 later that year, she has yet to reclaim her past popularity. On freezia, her videos often surpassed 1 million views, whereas The Frisia videos typically reach between 150,000 to 310,000 views. Nonetheless, her channel on Chinese video platform Bilibili remains widely popular. While YouTube is restricted in China, The Frisia continues to receive a high volume of supportive comments from Chinese fans.
In her debut video on The Frisia last year, Song Jia shared, “I hope to stay connected and keep talking with my fringe [fans] from now on.”
