Episode 5 of Tastefully Yours begins in chaos and charm, as Beom-woo impulsively kisses Yeon-joo, only for her to head-butt him in reflex when Myung-sook and Chun-seung catch them in the act. The moment ends with Beom-woo nursing a nosebleed, while Yeon-joo slips away unnoticed. The following day, the inn buzzes with teasing from their friends, but Yeon-joo publicly dismisses the kiss as a mistake—and Beom-woo awkwardly agrees.
The story pivots when a French woman and her Korean fiancé visit the restaurant to request a reservation for their parents’ first meeting. Beom-woo surprises everyone with his fluent French, and Yeon-joo quietly stuns the group by speaking it fluently too. Although hesitant at first due to her kitchen’s unfinished state, Yeon-joo eventually agrees to host the dinner, nudged by Beom-woo’s encouragement.
That night, Yeon-joo reflects on the couple’s challenge—blending cuisines to satisfy both sets of parents—and browses her recipe book, annoyed when she’s reminded of Beom-woo. She later finds him drunk on the street, still smarting over her dismissal of their kiss. Their argument turns emotional when he insists on one date, despite her protests, scheduling it for the night after the French family dinner.
Meanwhile, a new character is introduced: Jeon Min, the head chef at Le Murir, a prestigious Japanese restaurant. After discovering an airline mishandled one of his dishes, he cuts ties with the airline. Soon after, Min appears outside Yeon-joo’s restaurant. Their meeting is anything but warm—Yeon-joo breaks into tears and tells him to leave, revealing a fractured romantic and professional history. Flashbacks confirm that Min stayed at Le Murir while Yeon-joo took the blame for a botched dish and left the restaurant.
As emotions swell, Beom-woo briefly encounters Min, but the restaurant’s busyness prevents any drama from escalating. Later, Myung-sook shares photos and credentials proving Yeon-joo and Min once worked together. Inside, Yeon-joo and Min have a sincere conversation. He apologizes for his silence after she left Le Murir, admitting he missed her. But Yeon-joo is honest—what hurt most wasn’t her resignation, but that he never called.
The emotional core of Tastefully Yours Episode 5 centers on the family dinner. With tension high between the parents due to their cultural preferences, Yeon-joo rises to the occasion. She crafts a meal that harmoniously blends Korean and French traditions, and Chun-seung’s homemade makgeolli adds a comforting touch. The fusion cuisine softens the rigid patriarchs and brings the two families together in laughter and shared appreciation.
After the successful dinner, Beom-woo tries to remind Yeon-joo of their date, but Min shows up once again. She assures Beom-woo she’ll meet him later and prepares a nostalgic meal for Min—one they used to make from leftovers in France. Their bittersweet memories resurface, and Min asks her to return to Le Murir. Yeon-joo doesn’t respond directly but makes her feelings known by walking away.
Beom-woo, meanwhile, transforms a rooftop into a cozy movie date. He recounts how he earned the right to use the space by cutting onions for a vegetable vendor. As the movie plays, Yeon-joo falls asleep, and Beom-woo gently wraps a jacket around her. Later, over coffee, she opens up about her past—abandoned at a hermitage, drawn to cooking, and how she met Min in Japan. She reveals that despite Min’s offer, she has no plans to return to Le Murir.
But the next morning, Beom-woo and the team are shocked to find a note from Yeon-joo. She’s headed to Sapporo and asks them to look after the restaurant. As she waits at a bus stop, she gets a message from Min: “Flight’s at 4 PM.”
With its delicate balance of food, romance, and emotional reckoning, Tastefully Yours continues to explore what it means to choose between dreams and love—and whether you can have both.
