W Korea Clarifies Breast Cancer Campaign Donation Figures
On the 18th, W Korea released an official statement to Top Star News addressing allegations surrounding the donation amounts from its long-running breast cancer awareness campaign. The publication clarified that the donations consist of two sources — direct contributions from W Korea itself and additional funds donated by participating companies and individuals, which are then managed at the foundation’s discretion for related health projects.
W Korea stated, “Since our first collaboration with the Korea Breast Health Foundation in 2006 — excluding 2007 to 2009 when donations were made to another foundation — all campaigns have been conducted in the same transparent manner. All donations from both methods have been verified, and the foundation’s submitted data to the Ministry of Health and Welfare aligns with this.”

The company explained that the reported 300 million won (~220K USD) only reflects W Korea’s direct donations to the Korea Breast Health Foundation. It does not include contributions made independently by corporate and individual participants in the campaign. Additionally, donations from 2007 to 2009 were given to the Seoul branch of the Korea Population, Health, and Welfare Association, which were excluded from the current data.

W Korea emphasized, “If we include the omitted company and individual donations, as well as those made to the Korea Population, Health, and Welfare Association, the total cumulative amount from 2006 to 2024 reaches 960 million won. Including the 150 million won to be donated in 2025, the overall total for the 20-year campaign would amount to 1.1 billion won (~750K USD).”
This clarification follows a report by Rep. Lee Soo-jin of the Democratic Party, who disclosed Ministry of Health and Welfare data showing 315.69 million won in donations from W Korea between 2007 and November 2024 — sparking questions about transparency. W Korea’s detailed explanation aims to reaffirm its accountability and long-term commitment to breast cancer awareness and charitable transparency.
