Yim Siwan Teams Up with SM for First Solo Album

Yim Siwan is officially stepping into a new chapter of his music career, teaming up with SM Entertainment for his first solo album. According to a JTBC Entertainment News report on the 13th, the actor-singer is preparing to release his solo project later this year, with SM overseeing his overall music activities moving forward.

A representative from SM Entertainment confirmed the news, saying, “One of our subsidiary labels is producing Im Si Wan’s solo album, and we are currently coordinating the release schedule and other details.”

Since August, Yim Siwan has been without an agency, preparing his album independently before deciding to collaborate with SM Entertainment — a decision reportedly influenced by veteran artist Kangta. He was said to have great confidence in SM’s production expertise, known for managing top acts like TVXQ, Girls’ Generation, NCT, aespa, and RIIZE.

The upcoming release marks a significant milestone for Yim Siwan. While he has previously contributed to drama soundtracks and special collaborations, this will be his first official album under his own name. The project is currently in its final production stages, building anticipation among fans eager to hear his individual sound.

Yim Siwan first debuted as a member of ZE:A in 2010 alongside Park Hyung Sik, Hwang Kwang Hee, and Kim Dong Jun, though the group has been inactive since 2017. Despite focusing heavily on his acting career in recent years, Siwan’s passion for music never faded. In a recent interview promoting the Netflix film The Mantis, where he appeared with bleached hair, he said, “I’ve never given up on being a singer,” reaffirming his long-standing commitment to music.

While he has not yet signed with a new management agency for acting, multiple companies have reportedly shown interest. His acting career remains active, with recent appearances in Squid Game Season 3 and The Mantis.

With his first solo album now on the horizon, fans can look forward to experiencing a new side of Yim Siwan — one that blends his seasoned artistry, heartfelt vocals, and the refined production touch of SM Entertainment.
