Actor Yoo Seung-ho showed unexpected guilt despite receiving a fair wage on the latest episode of JTBC’s Confrontation, which aired on May 3. On the first day of operating the “Peng Hyun-sook Restaurant,” Seung-ho, working as a part-time employee (Albasaeng), received most of the day’s earnings as his part-time wage (Albabi), leaving him visibly conflicted.
After Peng Hyun-sook’s team suffered a loss to Lee Bong-won’s team in the business challenge, Yoo Seung-ho hesitantly asked if he could still be paid. “I’m really sorry, but can I get my part-time wage?” he asked cautiously. “I was hoping to eat something.” With his expenses dependent entirely on his part-time wage, Yoo emphasized that he couldn’t even afford a can of beer otherwise.
Calculating his five-hour work shift, the “Best Couple” agreed to pay him fairly. However, Yoo continued to feel uneasy, reflecting later, “I was going to talk about this after getting in the car… but I missed the timing. I got a haircut for you, so I should take this, right? But I feel so sorry.”
Still, his craving for a simple comfort took over. “I just really want a beer. Not to get drunk. It’s just been that tough,” he muttered to himself, smiling slightly at the thought.
The day’s sales at Peng Hyun-sook Restaurant totaled 3,035 baht, and Yoo Seung-ho received 2,750 baht for his work. With his earnings, he bought beer and sunscreen—simple yet meaningful items that underscored the reality of living on a tight budget, even in a TV challenge.
Yoo Seung-ho’s candid moment offered viewers a glimpse of humility and vulnerability, adding a touch of humanity to the competitive show.
